Half Moon Pose

In theory, Half Moon Pose is easy enough. While balancing on one leg, you tip over finding the balance between your torso and back leg. As is often the case in yoga, theory and reality are two different things and there’s more to this pose than meets the eye. To stay balanced and lifted, you are literally fighting gravity which is constantly pulling your leg and torso down. Here are some tips to help you land Half Moon Pose.

Headstand

I like having my feet firmly planted on the ground, so it took me years to work up the courage to try headstand. Headstand helped me get over my fear of falling –a disguise for a fear of failing. Somewhere along the way I’d lost that childlike playfulness that allowed me to try something new without worry about whether it was perfect or not. Practicing headstand forced me to make peace with failing and taught me to be more playful and willing to get out of my comfort zone.
